Ashley J. Bettis, 80, of Route 48, R.D. 2, Phoenix, died Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in North Syracuse , he was a former resident of Hannibal. He had lived in Lysander for 51 years. He was a retired refrigeration engineer for the Nestle Company in Fulton, where he worked for 42 years.
Surviving are his wife, Lela Weldon Bettis; two sons, Robert and Clyde, both of Phoenix; two daughters, Vivian Weller and Margaret Santulli, both of Phoenix; a brother, Kenneth Bettis of Webster; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, the Rev. Daniel Raught, pastor of the Baldwinsville Assembly of God Church, officiating. Spring burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 919 Main St., Phoenix.
