Mrs. Shirley Fay Hess Smith, age 67, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Pounding Mill, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in a Cincinnati, Ohio hospital.
She was born June 14, 1943 in Swords Creek, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Harold Bride and Flossie Elizabeth Hubbard Hess.
She was a former seamstress and was a graduate of Honaker High School. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Ellis Smith.

Funeral services for Shirley Fay Hess Smith will be conducted Friday, November 26, 2010 at 11:00am at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Dennis White and Rev. Jess Whited officiating. Interment will follow at the Simmons Family Cemetery on Red Root Ridge near Raven, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: John Hammond, David Hammond, Ricky Coxton, Doug Baker, and Drew Hamblin. Friends may call after 6:00pm Thursday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia.
