LEESBURG — Chester Harold Haynes, 88, died Thursday Nov. 25, 2010.

Mr. Haynes was born in Clear Lake, WA, and moved to Leesburg from Fairfax, VA, in 1968. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a retired marketing director with Lake County Bank, Leesburg and Bank First of Eustis; member and past president of Leesburg Rotary Club; member of the American Legion; and a member of Silver Lake Community Church, Leesburg.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis J.; daughters Karen Belotti, Bethesda, MD, Melinda Singleton, New Castle, PA, Lauren Haynes, Cove, Utah; son, Vernon, Volant, PA; stepdaughter Pamela Saweikis, Orlando; stepsons Don Spencer, Leesburg, Robert Spencer, Umatilla; brother, Fred, Auburn, WA; sister, Evelyn Strode, Sedro Wolley, WA; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, Leesburg, with the Rev. Jack Hood officiating. Visitation is from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis.

Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory, Leesburg is in charge of arrangements.

CHESTER HAROLD HAYNES, 88, of Leesburg, died ,
Friday, November 26, 2010. Born in Clear Lake,
Washington he moved to Leesburg in 1968 from Fairfax,
VA. He was a retired Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army serving
28 years. He was a veteran of WWII. He was awarded
the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, Presidential
Unit Citation and Bronze Star for Valor with 2 clusters.
He then retired as marketing director with Lake County
Bank, Leesburg and Bank First of Eustis. He was a
member since 1970 and past president of Leesburg
Rotary Club. He served as District Governor East
Central District in 1983 and 1984. He helped form
Leesburg Sunrise and Sunset Rotary Clubs during his
tenure. He was a member of The American Legion and a
member of Silver Lake Community Church, Leesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis J. Haynes;
daughters, Karen (Joe) Belotti of Bethesda, MD,
Melinda Singleton of New Castle, PA, Lauren Haynes
of Cove, UT; son, Vernon (Marite) Haynes of Volant,
PA; step daughter, Pamela (Leo) Saweikis of Orlando,
FL; step sons, Don Spencer of Leesburg, FL, Robert
(JoAnne) Spencer of Umatilla, FL; brother, Fred (Elta)
Haynes of Auburn, WA; sister, Evelyn (Norman)
Strode of Sedro Wolley, WA; fourteen grandchildren
and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Beyers Funeral Home
Chapel, Leesburg on Monday, November 29, 2010 at
11:00 AM with Reverend Jack Hood officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 4-
6:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will
be at Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis, FL.
