Lydia was the youngest child of Levi Zeluff and Mary Jane Millikin. She was born several months after Levi died of cholera while on the way to California. She grew up in LaSalle county.

She married William Earl Leek April 9, 1868. They continued to farm in LaSalle county until they moved to Indiana in about 1896. She died of pneumonia in her home in Rensselaer, Indiana on April 14 1907.
