Leo Francis Kahian, age 87 years, of Middleboro, died Nov. 25, 2010, at the Golden Living Center Oak Hill, Middleboro, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Eva Marie (Giguere) Kahian, who predeceased him in 2006; they had been married for 63 years. He was a son of the late Serop and Mary (Avedician) Kahian. Born in Boston, Dec. 25, 1922, he was a graduate of Abington High School, class of 1941. Mr. Kahian was the founder and operator of Kahians Furniture, for over 50 years. He served in two branches of the military during World War II. He was a Pilot Cadet in the Navy Air Corps and a Pilot Cadet in the Army Air Corps, on board a B-29 Bomber. He was a member of the John Birch Society, Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Kahian served as a Middleboro selectman from 1966-1969 and was also a gubernatorial in 1974. Survivors include two sons, Arthur R. Kahian of Middleboro, Steven M. Kahian of Plymouth; six daughters, Patricia King of Seattle, Wash., Nancy Bernier of Middleboro, Carol Ann Kahian of Atlanta, Ga., Mary Ann Bridgwood of Lakeville, Marjorie Kahian of Quincy and Donna Kay Nault of Holbrook; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late John L Kahian, Betty Jane Kahian and brother of the late John Leo Kahian. Private services are being held at the convenience of the family.
