Jane was born in County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland in about 1781. Her parents are unknown at this time.

She married Andrew Whitely sometime before 1812. The marriage took place in Enniskillen Parish, county Fermanagh. The couple had seven children: James, born about 1812, Thomas, born in about 1823, Andrew, born on August 20, 1824, Robert, born about 1826; John William, born in about 1827 and Joseph Benson Milton, born in about 1829. They also had a daughter, whose name is unknown at this time.

In about 1832, the family came to Canada, settling in the town of Goderich in Huron County.

Jane passed away on February 28, 1879 in Goderich, Huron County, Ontario. She was buried in Maitland Cemetery.
