Killed In Wreck
ANSON (RNS) -- An Anson truck driver, Harvey Jennings, 22, died early Tuesday when his truck overturned near Andice, 40 miles north of Austin in Williamson County, on U. S. 183.
His truck ran off the left side of the highway, hit a pile of paving hot mix and overturned, the Associated Press reported. A Department of Public Safety official in Austin said Jennings was travelling south when the accident happened at 3:30 a.m. He was thought to be alone.
Funeral will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Hawley Baptist Church, with the Rev. L. A. Sublett, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Stamford, officiating.
Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery under direction of Lawrence Funeral Home of Anson.
Born Harvey Mack Jennings on March 11, 1941, in Anderson County, he moved with his parents to Hawley at the age of two and grew up there. He entered the U. S. Army in August of 1957 and served three years and four months.
He married Shirley Ann Bennett of Stamford on March 25, 1961, and was employed by Claude Roughton of Lueders as a truck driver.
Surviving are his wife of Stamford; one step-daughter, Christina Ann Bennett of Stamford; five brothers, Lee of Henderson, Buford of Camp Polk, La., Melvin of El Centro, Calif., Joe and Ray Jennings, both of Anson; three sisters, Mrs. Doris Richardson of Hawaii, Mrs. Lula Mae New and Mrs. Thelma New, both of Anson.
