Jane Genevieve Johnson Hansel (87) went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Jane was born on March 20, 1923, in Milwaukee. Wisconsin, to Anton and Adeline (Hesselbach) Johnson. At the age of five, her family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, when her father took a position with Oklahoma Steel Castings. Jane graduated from Tulsa's Will Rogers High School in 1941. She attended the University of Texas, University of Colorado and graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in Psychology in 1946. She was a member of Phi Mu social sorority and Psi Chi honorary psychology fraternity. At TU, Jane met her sweetheart, William Edward "Bill" Hansel. They were married on October 24, 1947, and enjoyed 59 years together until Bill's death in December, 2006. Family was everything to Jane. She created a happy home with her excellent cooking and her knack of turning any meal into a celebration. Jane was very artistic and creative, using those talents to paint, sew, make stained glass, and enjoy many other crafts. She won numerous awards for flower arrangements as a member of Anne Hathaway Garden Club. She loved reading, gardening and enjoyed extensive travel with Bill. She cherished her friends in the Petal Pushers Garden Club, in Quester's and in her lifelong affiliation with First Lutheran Church. She also developed many special friendships with residents and staff of Oklahoma Meth- odist Manor. Kindness, patience and virtue were her finest characteristics. She set a loving example to all she encountered and had a smile that would melt your heart. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her mother and father, and her brother, Robert. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa. Moore's Rosewood Chapel.
