Death Loves a Shining Mark.

Beautiful Home Broken Up and loved One Taken in Prime of Life -- Was Born in Rushford.

Helen Fuller Mason was born in Rushford Nov. 26, 1888. Her father, Leonard Harper Mason died Feb. 16, 1890, leaving his daughter only 15 months old. Her mother, who was Amelia A. Wood then went into business with her sister, Mrs. Ray Heald and remained with her until she married Rev. A. R. Spencer Aug. 9, 1898. Thus little Helen was almost as dear to her aunt as to her own mother.

She went with her parents to Forrestville and was baptized by her father into the church at the age of ten years. A little later Mr. Spencer was called to the pastorate of the Hamburg church and there Helen graduated from the High School and from the Genesee Normal in 1909. That fall she began her work as a teacher. The next year, Aug. 15, 1910 she was married to Erwin C. Horton of Hamburg who, with their three children, Lillian aged 4 yrs., Dorothy, 2 1/2 and Mason, 6 months are left to mourn the loss of a beloved wife and mother.

She was taken violently ill Aug. 9 with malarial infection, pneumonia developing at the last. Everything that mortal minds could conceive or hands find to do was done but the death Angel came the morning of Aug. 16 at 5:30 and bore her Spirit home.

Just five years and a few hours from the time she left her home as a bride with her husband, the same car and chauffeur with her husband, children and aunt Ray were following her remains to their last resting place.

Her life in Hamburg had been one of great activity and faithfulness in church work in the W. C. T. U. and everything that was for the uplift of humanity. And God never sent a more loyal wife and mother into a home than Mrs. Horton.

The last services were held at her home August 18, at 3 p.m. conducted by Rev. Munce, assisted by Rev. Rimanoczy. The profusion of lowers at her home showed the love and esteem of the entire Hamburg community.

Those who went from here were Howard Wood, Mrs. Lou Wood and son, Lloyd, and Mrs. Heald, who was called there at the commencement of her sickness.
