William R. (some records show his name as William James Rothrock) Rothrock was the third of nine known children of Joseph Rothrock (1824-1907) and Mararet (went by Polly) Stonehill Rothrock (1823-1872), who married c1846 at presumably Stark County, Ohio. After Polly died, Joseph remarried to the widow Mary Bosserman Bowers (1840-1921) on 20 Dec 1873 in Ohio and had an additional four known children.

William married Mary Jane Baughman (1854-1935) on 14 Aug 1873 at Hancock County, Ohio. William and Mary were the parents of eleven known children, namely:

1. John Orren Rothrock (1874-1946)
2. George C. Rothrock (1876-1884)
3. Myrtie M. Rothrock (1878-1889)
4. Leona G. Rothrock (1882-???)
5. Maybel Rothrock (1883-1889)
6. Harry Rothrock (1884-1884)
7. Etta Maud Rothrock Altenbach (1887-1970)
8. Earl J. Rothrock (1887-1910)
9. Arthur J. Rothrock (1889-1918)
10. Herbert Rothrock (1891-a1900)
11. Edith Ilo Rothrock Latham (1893-1975)

"WILLIAM ROTHROCK

William Rothrock, 86, of 659 W. Wayne st., died Tuesday in St. Rita's hospital. He was admitted in the hospital April 21 as a medical case. A former brick mason, he had been retired for the last 20 years. Rothrock was born in Summit co. but spent most of his life in the Lima area. He was a member of the Borrowed Time club.

He leaves a son, J. O. Rothrock, of Lima, and two daughters. One daughter is Mrs. Etta Altenbach of 438 Ewing av, whose husband, Oscar J. Altenbach, 58, died Saturday in St. Rita's hospital of bronchial pneumonia. The other daughter is Mrs. Ilo Latham, with whom Rothrock had made his home. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Otis Harter in the Cantwell funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. J. R. Love will assist in the service. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. The body will be at the mortuary until time of rites.
