77, Chrysler Corp. retiree
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Jessie Ashton Fitzgerald, 77, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Doss and the Rev. James H. Henderson officiating.
Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery at Falkville where members of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans will conduct a military graveside service. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Fitzgerald died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Morgan County to Fran Wood Fitzgerald and Bertie Almon Fitzgerald. He attended Cedar Plains Christian Church and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the Chrysler Corp., where he was a specifications writer in shipping and packing.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Franklin Fitzgerald of New Mexico, Roger Wayne Fitzgerald of Dallas and Robert Henry Fitzgerald of Decatur; two daughters, Shelia Haynie of Baltimore and Rena Carter of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Patrick D. Fitzgerald of Hernando, Miss.; four sisters, Francis F. Laney and Janie F. Holmes, both of Falkville, Bertie F. Ferrell of Columbus, Ga., and Leah F. Oakley of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Nephews will be pallbearers.
