SERVICES SET FOR JOHN ASH.
Service for John O. Ash who died Thursday at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Grundy Center United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Rose - Hill Cemetery. .
Mr. Ash, in the roofing business from 1956 until 1979, was semi-retired. Earlier he had tree-cutting service and as a young man worked with his father in the coal business. He was born at Grundy center Jan. 13, 1911 to John L. and Margaret (Blackford ) Ash and married Anna Arends at Waterloo Jan. 3, 1931.
Surviving are his wife; one son, William Grundy center, four daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Donald ) Cooley, Borhead Wis,; Marjorie (Mrs. Ray ) Houtman, Albuquerque N. M. ; Judy (Mrs. David ) Venenga and Jane (Mrs. Dennis ) Sealman , both of Grundy Center; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother and nine sisters; Ervin Ash, Pearl Aswegan, Ethel Stumberg, Susie Gideon and Ellen Aswegan, Grundy center, Hazel Pepperling, Iowa Falls, Margaret Aswegan, Stout; Bernice Brandsted, Klimme; Mary Swenson, Lake Mills and June Jacobson, in Minnestoa. There is a memorial fund. Friends may call at the Engelkes-Ables Funeral home until 9 p.m. Friday and at the Church before the services. .
One son preceded him in death, John Lawson Ash on Nov. 27, 1980.
