Charles Wesley Carpenter was born in Westerville, Ohio November 8, 1820. He married Sarah Degolia and moved to Lafayette county, Wisconsin, to Albion, Michigan then Washington county, Nebraska, then later Madison county on a homestead near Tilden. Those surviving children out of seven when Charles died were - Milton, Mrs. Bunn - Blair, Ne, and one son on the Pacific Coast. Interred to Tilden by his wife's grave. Veteran of the Mexican War. (Antelope Tribune, Dec. 2, 1896)
