CALDWELL, George Henry (""Lewis""), 77, of Blue Ridge, passed away Thursday, September 10, 1998. He was born July 20, 1921 in Alleghany County to the late Edgar and Hallie Caldwell. Lewis served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Lewis was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Henry Caldwell; a grandson, Manuel Jason Gibson. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Marie Noel Caldwell of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Ernie Lee and Jenney Caldwell of Blue Ridge, Donald Ray and Brenda Caldwell of Bedford, Kenneth Melvin and Peggy Caldwell of Blue Ridge; daughters and sons-in-law, Genevie Ann and the late Manuel Gibson, Connie Faye and Billy Letchford, all of Blue Ridge; sisters, Buelah Wilcher, Pearl Sizemore, both of Covington; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Jim Patterson, Jeff Leonard, the Rev. Philip Ayers and Dr. Overstreet for their support and kindness. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, September 14 at Glade Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ayers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Lotz Vinton Chapel.
