LILLIE BELLE HARPER, age 92 of Huntsville, AL formerly of Macon County, passed away early on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Windsor House in Huntsville, AL. Funeral Services for Lillie Harper were conducted on Sunday, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Rev. Harold King officiating. Interment followed in the Cold Spring Cemetery. Joseph Comstock, Bruce Dyer, Tony Dyer, Dewayne Carter, Willie Harper, II, and Chad Whittemore served as Pallbearers. Marty Harper served as Honorary Pallbearer.

Lillie was born in Macon County, Tennessee on June 4, 1918, to the late Willie Taylor and Vadie Caroline Howser Hanes.

Lillie was married as a young woman and she raised 2 daughters and 2 sons. She had worked in factories throughout her life earning what she could to help raise her children. After retiring in 1983, she began to enjoy past times like quilting, sewing, and making dresses for her grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her flower garden. Lillie also loved to collect Salt and Pepper shakers. At last count, she had over 250 sets of shakers.

Lillie was of the Baptist belief. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by; Daughters, Joyce Ann Carter of Toney, AL, and Janice Belle True of W. Palm Beach, FL, Sons, Billy R. Harper Sr. of Floral City, FL, Willie B. Harper Sr. and wife Betty of Indianapolis, IN, Sisters, Loberta Hightower and Deamer Lendsy of both of Bowling Green, KY, Brother, Obal Hanes of Bowling Green, KY. 18 Grandchildren, 40+ Great Grandchildren, and Several Great Great-Grandchildren also survive.
