Former Yuma resident Margaret Rose Cady, 90, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004 in St. Mathews, South Carolina, with her family at her side. She was born in East Moline, Illinois on February 2, 1914 to Edmund and Maria Van Landeoen, who were from Belgium.

She enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up on her father's farm in Illinois. On May 23, 1932 she married her husband of 54 years, Leonard Cady, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in East Moline. In 1949 they moved their family to Yuma, a place she truly learned to love. Over the years in Yuma, she had been active in square dancing and Palo Verde Business Women's Club. She began painting landscapes and took up golf after her retirement. Margaret enjoyed gardening and long walks. She moved to South Carolina with her son in 2000.

Margaret is survived by her son, Ron (Carolyn) Cady, of Elloree, S.C.; daughter, Marge (Ray) Erwin, of Prescott, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Johnnie Cady, of Y uma; grandchildren, Butch Erwin, Donna Magers, Mike Erwin, Vicki Rutherford, Kevin Erwin, Kim Ballantine, Tim Cady, Len Cady, and Cheryl Gill. Margaret is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Bill Cady.

Viewing will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, August 1, 2004 at Johnson Mortuary. Funeral service will take place on Monday, August 2, 2004, 11 a.m. at Johnson Chapel. Burial follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
