Elizabeth Key Watts was born January 12, 1804 in Jackson Co, GA. She was the daughter of Rev. Benjamin Watts and Elizabeth Tandy Key, both from Virginia. She married Rev. Orceneth Fisher on September 23, 1825 in St. Clair Co, IL. He was the son of Dr. David Fisher and Britannia Chase Fisher. Orceneth was born in Chester, Windsor Co, VT, on November 5, 1803. Before 1821 he moved to Indiana Territory, where he joined the Methodist Church, in which he became a pioneer minister. After admission on trial to the Missouri Conference in 1823, he was assigned to various Illinois circuits. In 1839, he visited Texas for his health and preached at Brazoria, Brazoria Co, TX. He returned to Springfield, Sangamon Co, IL, where he published "Sketches of Texas" in 1840. While living in Illinois, he preached to Abraham Lincoln and held his coat during a duel. Fisher moved to Texas in 1841 and served in Washington County and Brazoria County. In 1844 and 1845 he was chaplain of the Congress of the Republic of Texas. In 1846, he moved to Houston, Harris Co, TX where he resumed the ministry.

Elizabeth died in Houston, Harris Co, Texas on November 19, 1847 from Yellow Fever. On May 15, 1848 Orceneth married Rebecca Jane Gilleland in Washington Co, TX. She was the daughter of Johnson Gilleland and Mary Barbour. Orceneth and Rebecca were the parents of three children.
