LAKEPORT - Joyce V. Barcomb, 77, Lakeport Road, passed away Tuesday morning, March 27, 2012 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, following an extended illness.
Born in Altona on May 22, 1934, she was a daughter of Alfred and Velida King Mesick. A resident of the area for the last 59 years, Joyce attended schools in Altona. She married Maurice A. Barcomb in Altona, on April 18, 1952. Mr. Barcomb passed away in 1996.
Prior to her retirement, Joyce was employed with Oneida Limited Silversmiths and previously was the owner and operator of Beaver's Corner in Oneida and Beaver's Diner in Plattsburgh. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved to be around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and often attended St. Mary's of the Lake.
Surviving are five daughters and four sons-in-law, Alice and Wayne Keville of Lakeport, Debra and Larry Rowley of Tallahassee, Fla., Marlene Carroll of Canastota, Kimie and Lincoln Seifert of Frankfort and Kelly and Roger Bibeau of Plattsburgh; four sons, Maurice A. Barcomb Jr. of Geneva, Bruce D. Barcomb of Los Angeles, Calif., Joseph Barcomb and Michael Barcomb, both of Lakeport; three sisters, Mildred Reynolds of Denton, Nebraska, Betty Bourdon of Hemingford, Quebec and Alfreda Miller of West Chazey; a sister-in-law, Arlene Barcomb of Oneida; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Barcomb of Oneida; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jill T. Barcomb in 1982, a son, Brian Barcomb in 2011, three sisters, Orva Bouyea, Gertrude Ashline and Ora Mesick, and her brother, Sam Mesick.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday from St. Patrick's Church where the funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Kapral, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell-Dean Funeral Home Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida.
