The marriage of Miss Elizabeth O'Keefe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John O'Keefe of South Garrison avenue, and Mr. George E. Phelps, son of Mrs. W. H. Phelps of Grand Avenue and representative in the Missouri legislature from the first district of Jasper county, took place at 10:30 o'clock this morning at St. Ann's Catholic church rectory. The Rev. Father Francis J. Sullivan performed the marriage ritual. Mr. John O'Keefe, jr., brother of the bride, was best man for Mr. Phelps. Only relative of the couple were in attendance for the ceremony. The bride wore a blue cloth suit with mink fur trim.
Her hat was of blue with other accessories in brown. Her corsage bouquet was of orchids. Following the wedding a reception was held at the O'Keefe home. Small Christmas trees and holly wreaths were featured in the decoration of the living room while of the living room while silver and green predominated in the dining room. A four-tier wedding cake centered the table. Ferns and white roses were banked around the base of the cake. Silver candle sticks held tall white tapers tied with green tulle bows. Other table appointments were in silver, and silver colored wreaths hung on either side of the wall. Bowls of white roses completed the decorative note of the dining room. Mr. and Mrs. Phelps left immediately after the reception for a brief wedding trip and will go to Jefferson City January 1 to remain until the legislative session ends. They will then come to Carthage to make their home.

The bride is a graduate of the Emma Willard School at Troy, NY., and attended Sweet Briar College, Sweet Briar, VA., one year. She received her A. B. degree at the University of Missouri, Columbia. She is a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority at the university. Mr. Phelps also was graduated from the University of Missouri where he received his degree in law.
Mr. Phelps is a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He is an attorney with offices here in Carthage. Both Mr. and Mrs. Phelps have traveled extensively in this country and Europe.

MRS. ELIZABETH PHELPS DIES

Mrs. Elizabeth O'Keefe Phelps, 68, 1601 Grand Avenue, died at 12:40 p.m. today at McCune-Brooks Hospital where she had been a patient since December 13. She had been in failing health the past year.

Mrs. Phelps was born July 24, 1908, in Carthage and resided here her lifetime. She was married to George E. Phelps December 28, 1924 in Carthage. He died March 15, 1958. She was a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church and a member of St. Margaret's Guild.

Survivors include two sons;
George E. Phelps, Jr. of Dallas, Texas and
John O. Phelps, 1401 S. Garrison
and seven grandchildren

A brother, John E. O'Keefe died during World War II in the U. S. Navy.
