He was the son of Merrill L. Crum and Nora Edna Hyden. He married Marion Evans.

AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Crossroads Church for Donald L. "Papa" Crum Sr., 77, who died peacefully Tuesday evening at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born March 26, 1933, in Aliquippa, Pa., the son of Merrill and Nora Hyden Crum.

He entered the Navel Reserves as a young man and later entered active service to serve in the Korean War from July of 1953 to July of 1955.

He had worked as a self-employed truck driver for over 25 years through Teamsters Local No. 377, he then worked for K-Mart Distribution Center for 10 years, before his retirement.

He was a longtime member of the Crossroads Church, where he had been involved with its children's programs, and was a member of its young at heart group.

Don also belonged to the YMCA for many years, and is remembered by his family as a tinkerer and for his great creativity.

He is survived by his wife, the former Marion R. Evans, whom he married May 23, 1952; two daughters, Brenda (Michael) Bakos of Columbus and Deborah (Sean) Murphy of Baltimore; two sons, Don (JoAnn) Crum Jr. of Austintown and Gary Crum (Annett Davis) of Austintown; a brother, Harold (Brenda) Crum of Lexington, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Erica (Eric) Hicks, Stacey Stein, Elizabeth Fry, Jeremy (Shawna) Crum, Christine Fry, Danyelle Crum, Steve Davis and Rachel Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Shayla and Rocco Hicks.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and Saturday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Crossroads Church at 554 S. Meridian Road.
