Obituary,The Deseret News, 1 Nov 1921, 2nd Sec, pg. 8. (Tues) extract:

William Hatfield, age 73, pioneer mining man and a resident of Utah 57 yrs, died Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ann L. Huber, 800 East 48 South Street, Murray, Utah. Body is at Qualtrough-Allcott undertaking establishment and arrangements for the funeral will be made upon receipt of word from relatives on the coast. Internment will be a Springville.

A Native of England, Mr. Hatfield came to Utah when 16 yrs old, and most of his life was spent in the mining business. He was the man who struck ore in the Bullion Beck mine, and he also discovered the Swansea mine. Mr. Hatfield was one of the pioneers of the Tintic district.

For many years he lived in Eureka, where he operated the Snowflake mine and engaged in the hotel business. He was also connecte with mining at Alta. At the time of his death, Mr. Hatfield was a member of the Salt Lake Mining Exchange.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rhoda Hatfield, by three daughters, Mrs. Huber, Mrs. Bessie E. Bowne of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Beatrice Hatfield of Springville; and by 2 sons, H.T. Hatfield of Salt Lake, and Frank A. Hatfield of San Francisco.

Mr. Hatfield was a member of Tintic Lodge #9 and A.M. and was a master of the lodge. He was a member of other Masonic bodies in Salt Lake and also of Eureka lodge #12 of the IO.O.F and of Salt Lake Lodge #85 BPO Elks.
