George Damon descended from one of the founding families in Mass. His history has been traced back to 1710 with the birth of David Damon.

David fought in the Indian War in 1754, and had the rank of Lieutenant. Joseph Damon was son of David and born in 1751 in Reading, Mass., and fought in the Revolutionary War. He was a private in Lexington Alarm, the first battle of the Revolutionary Was fought in Mass. on April 19, 1775, in Capt. Jon Jones' Co. On April 20,1775 he marched with Col. James Prescott's Regiment. Joseph married Ruth Stearns, and their son was Rev. Lyman Damon, born in 1811, in Kirby Mass. In addition to his pastoral duties, he was a farmer. He married Harriet Bancroft, and born to them was Ebenezer Damon. His son was a physician, Dr. George Damon, born in Vermont, and died in 1862.

His son, George, was the father of this George Damon burn in 1835 in Vermont. He married Phoebe in 1877. George worked as a book publisher, and fought in the Civil War in Co. 1, 10th Vol. Infantry.
