Mr. Murphree was born March 6, 1934, in Blount County to Claude and Bessie Cason Murphree. He was married to Geraldine Howell Murphree, who preceded him in death.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a retired poultry farmer, member of the Baptist faith and a former resident of the Baileyton area. He has called the Rock Springs Community of Blountsville his home for the past seven years.
He is survived by a son, a daughter, a granddaughter, two brothers and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Bernice Lee Murphree and Alvin Murphree; and by two sisters: Joy Bell Harris and Jeanette Wilson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery.
