Floyd Brown, former Albertville Chevrolet dealer, hotel owner and mayor, died of a heart attack Monday after years of failing health. He died in the Boaz-Albertville Hospital at the age of 68.

Formerly of Brindlee Mountain and Guntersville, he had been in Albertville since the mid-40’ s. He grew up at Shoal Creek near Arab. He was associated with his brother R. A. Brown in a Chevrolet dealership, first for a short time at Pikeville, Tenn., then in Guntersville 18 years. Part of that time they also had a place at Arab.

After the end of World War II, Mr. Brown became the Chevrolet dealer at Albertville. He operated the business about 15 years. He bought what had been the Horsley Hotel and had it for years under the name of the Brown Hotel. It was where Linda's Restaurant is now.

Mr. Brown was an Albertville councilman and was mayor 2 terms. He was a member of the Albertville First Baptist Church and a former member of the Jaycees, Lions and Civitans.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lora Camp Brown; 2 daughters, Mrs. Jackie Hawkins of Albertville and Mrs. Jean Adams of Boaz; 3 brothers, R. A. and Hubert Brown of Guntersville and Belton Brown of Hanceville; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Estelle Porch of Guntersville and Mrs. Mellie Bobo of Arab.

The funeral was held in the Albertville First Baptist Church Tuesday by Rev. Clinton Wood and Rev. J. O. Colley. Burial was in the Arab City Cemetery.
