Mary Elizabeth Hilton was the biological daughter of Allen Hilton and Sarah Boardman. He mother died when she was a baby and she was adopted by George Albert Storrs & his first wife Eliza Fincher. Both the 1860 & 1870 census' show her using the Storrs surname.

She married George Burch (who was living with she and her adoptive family on the 1870 census). They were the parents of George Franklin, Allen Hilton, Lily May, Claudius Hilton, William Hilton, Susannah "Susie", Eliza (or Alice), Leo Hilton, Kate and Arthur Hilton Burch.

..." George and Eliza had no children, but they adopted a baby girl, Mary Elizabeth (Hilton) Storrs. She was born the 19 March 1853 at St. Louis, Missouri. They raised her to womanhood and she married George Burch. They also reared a boy, William Bowskill, the son of William and Jane Elizabeth Bowskill, who was born the 28 June 1857 at Ft. Herriman, Salt Lake, Utah.
