DR. STEVENSON OF DES MOINES DEAD
The body of Dr. William S. Stevenson was brought to Chariton for burial today following services in Des Moines. Dr. Stevenson, who was 77, died Monday evening at his home, 1502 22nd St., Des Moines.
He was a brother-in-law of George Blanchard, Chariton merchant. Dr. Stevenson's widow, who before their marriage was Miss Frances Blanchard of Chariton, is the only immediate surviving relative.
Born in Banff, Scotland, May 7, 1858, Dr. Stevenson came to America when a young man. He worked as a reporter on a Brooklyn, N.Y. newspaper before enrolling at Drake University Medical college in Des Moines. He was graduated in 1894 and later was an instructor at the school.
From 1900 to 1933 Dr. Stevenson was medical director of the National Life Company. Because of failing health he retired two years ago but continued to make occasional trips to the office and maintained an interest in the work.
Dr. Stevenson was an elder in the Central Presbyterian church in Des Moines and a thirty-second degree Mason. He was well known in Chariton.

DR. STEVENSON OF DES MOINES DEAD
