Ed was the son of the Rev. Marshall Powers and Dora Bell Slimp Morton. His mother is buried in New Addition Annex in Palestine City Cemetery. He was a retired car inspector for Missouri Pacific Railroad. His wife, Mary Louise Ward Morton, is also buried Roselawn Park. He was survived by his wife; two sisters, Ann Taylor and Elsie Blue, both of Palestine; and one brother, M. P. Morton of Orland, CA. His obituary was published in the Palestine Herald-Press, Thursday, 22 May 1986.
