Daughter of Lyman Lee and Arrena (McLin) Latimer, Mrs. Goldsmith grew up on the family farm north of Holton. Her siblings were: Sarah Jane, Rebecca Elizabeth, Mary Minerva, Charlotte Arrena and Grover Lee.

She was married to Henry Lynza Goldsmith in 1900 or 1901 at Holton and the young couple shortly moved to what then was Oklahoma Territory and settled on a farm near Chicksha in Grady County. Thus the daughter of Kansas pioneers became an Oklahoma pioneer.

To this union were born six children: Thelma, Evangeline, Margaret, Viola, Joe and LaRue.
