Robert F. Hill was born Sept. 12th, 1835 in Tennessee and came to Missouri and was married to Eliza J. Harbison Jan. 13th, 1860. (records show 1862) To this union two children were born, John W. Hill and James E. Hill. July 17th, 1865, his wife died. He was again married to Elizabeth M. Crisp March 4th, 1866. To this union 10 children were born, Jesse L., Nancy M., Pevina P., Albert S., Ira U., Leona A., Nora E., Lucy M., Marguret C. and Robert F. Hill. Pevina and Nora died in infancy. Ira U. died June 7, 1914. The rest of the children are living. This wife died February 10, 1897. He was married to Emma J. Bratten Aug. 27, 1900. To this union three children were born: Esther M., Ira C., and W.G. who are living. He died June 6th, 1917, and leaves a wife and 12 children. He joined the Flatwoods Baptist church in 1890, and remained there until his death, and was a deacon 25 years.
Brother Hill has been an invalid for about eighteen months. In January he gad a stroke of paralysis and has had several strokes during the year and a half that he was in bed. He was a patient sufferer. Loved by those who knew him. Flatwoods lost a servant when Bro. Hill became helpless. She has lost another member. One by one we are joining ranks on high. Bro. Hill was a large man and heavy to handle. His faithful wife and children have had a hard time taking care of him. But their devotion to him was so great that they did not murmur.
Bro. Hill was a member of the G.A.R. at Eldon. He was a good man and will be missed in the church, in the lodge and the community, but especially in his home.
Funeral services were conducted by the writer at the home at 7:30, June 6th. Burial took place in Spring Garden June 9. We join in sympathy for the bereaved ones.
