Our dear mother, grandmother and friend passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010. Phyllis was born April 19, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ebba and George M. Paul along with three sisters Rose, Marlene and Bonnie. Phyllis lived a full and gifted life. She worked at the Federal Reserve Bank and during World War II she worked at the Arms Plant inspecting bullets while earning her pilot's license and joining the Civil Air Patrol. Phyllis always loved sharing her wonderful memories of dates to the Rainbow Rendezvous with friends. Many of those friends have continued to meet every month for lunch for the past 60 years. We would like to thank them for their wonderful friendship.

Mom was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Salt Lake Country Club. She had no problem playing 18 holes with her friends and relatives until she was 86 years old. Phyllis has told many stories about how she met her football hero husband Tally Stevens. They met on a blind date and she quickly realized that she would become an instant sports fan. They were married on December 19, 1947 and shared 48 wonderful years together until his passing.

They had three children, Terri Smith, Sandy Pagoaga (Jim) and Tally Jr. (Michelle). She leaves behind six beautiful grandchildren, Taylor and Tyson Smith, Steve Pagoaga (Jenna), Jane Hill (Seth), Tally J. Stevens (Brian), and Nichole Stevens. We will miss her compassion, love, generosity and most of all her great sense of humor and laughter.

A private graveside service for the immediate family will be held Friday, November 26 at Larkin Sunset Lawn. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life in honor of Phyllis on Sunday, November 28, between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake Country Club, (2400 S. Country Club Drive).

Our family wishes to extend our deep appreciation and thanks to all of her wonderful caregivers. In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake (669 South 200 East, Suite 100 Salt lake City, UT. 84111) or the Multiple Sclerosis Society - Utah Chapter (6364 Highland Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84121).
