Hazel M. (Brownson) Hoey Royal Givskud, 72 died Monday, September 7, 2009 at the Keystone Center in Leominster after a brief illness. She is survived by two daughters; Anna Mikels and her husband David of Leominster, Penney Ann Lopez and her husband Jose of FL; five sons: John Hoey and his wife Tina, Kenneth Hoey James Royal and his wife Kathy of SC, Robert Royal of FL, and David Givskud and his wife Stacey of Melrose. She leaves a sister, Virginia Talbot of Worcester; a brother Irwin "Red" Brownson, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Marlborough;
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Shanahan, who died in 2005.
Hazel was born in Worcester to the late Irwin and Jenny (Chestna) Brownson and attended local schools. She was employed for many years at the former Ames Warehouse in Clinton prior to retiring from Merry Maids, where she worked for more than ten years. She cherised time spent with her children and grandchildren and took pleasure in bowling and playing Bingo.
Her funeral was held at the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home in Clinton, MA.
