FAIRMONT — Lindsay Alvarious Jackson, 74, of New Concord and formerly of Wooster, Ohio, died Saturday (Nov. 20, 2010) at Wooster Community Hospital.

He was born June 23, 1936 in Wallace, the son of Lloyd and Esther Rice Jackson. On Nov. 27, 1957 he married Grace Ballinger, who survives.

Lindsay was a lieutenant for the Wooster Police Department for nine years, and prior to that had worked for Akron Brass for five years. He was a graduate of Mannington High School in West Virginia, West Virginia University and Wooster Business College. He was a member of the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles. He enjoyed driving, Amish, fishing, camping and traveling, and he loved his family.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Roger A. (Cindy) Jackson of Wooster, Victoria L. (Bob) Strauss of Wooster, and Charlotte A. (Stanley) Johnson of Burbank; a brother, Don L. Jackson of Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Patti Jackson, Laura Jackson, Jonathan Jackson, Deanna Strauss, Steven Strauss, Mitchell (Brandy) Johnson, Rachel (Justin) Moore and Tyler Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Karsen Moore and Thomas Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 East Larwill St., Wooster, Ohio 44691, from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at First Church of God, 1953 Akron Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691, with the Rev. Arnie Kaufman officiating. Burial will be held at Sherwood Memorial Garden.
