Alyce Sadler Tompkins, 88, of the 1800 block of Durham East, passed away June 29, 2008, in Virginia Beach, VA.

A native of Edenton, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Emma Sadler, and the widow of Guy D. Tompkins, Sr. She retired from the Norfolk Public School System as a Secretary. She was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, the Virginia Beach General Hospital Auxiliary, the National Association of Educational Office Personnel, the Virginia Association of Educational Office Personnel and the Association of Educational Office Professional of Norfolk.

She is survived by two sons, Dra Tompkins of Virginia Beach, VA and Thomas J. Tompkins and wife Gail of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Alma Mountcastle and Antha Cob; and three brothers, Aubury Sadler, Alva Sadler and Alison Sadler.

A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach General Hospital Auxiliary.
