Donald Patterson, 70, of 1953 New Holland Pike, died Saturday evening at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Shirley Wright Patterson. He was also the husband of Ethel Heisey Patterson, who died in 1990 and Grace Koser Patterson, who died in 1973. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late George H. and Ethel Hamm Patterson. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a truck driver, retiring in 1976. Before that he was a driver for Binkley & Ober quarries. Since his retirement, he had been mowing grass for Kreider Farms, Manheim. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II. Surviving besides his wife are a son, Steven Donald, husband of Brenda Patterson, of Westerville, Ohio; a daughter, Phyllis Smeltz of Manheim; a stepdaughter, Caryn, wife of Clyde Winegardner, of Ephrata; two stepsons, Chuck Martin of Strasburg and Ben, husband of Ann Zeiset Martin, of Goodville; four grandchildren; a sister, Maxine, wife of Raymond Ressler, of Soudersburg; and a brother, Elmer, husband of Helen Patterson of Strasburg.
