Verina A. Brix, 73, resident of Country Manor Health Care and Retirement Center, Sartell, formerly of St. Cloud, died Wednesday at St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Avon. The Rev. Simon Bischof will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Vernina Brix was born Feb. 23, 1913, in Farming to Joseph and Benedicta (Willenbring) Backes. She married Norbert Brix in 1932 in Farming and the couple lived in Elrosa until moving to St. Cloud in 1946. She had been employed as a sales clerk by Crossroads Fanny Farmer from 1967 to 1983 and was a member of Holy Angels Parish and Ladies Catholic Order of Foresters. She had been a resident of the nursing home since 1983.

Survivors include sons, Ron and Doug, St. Cloud; brothers and sisters, Lee and Clarence, St. Cloud; Harold and Herb, Farming; Albin, Avon; Mrs. Eddie (Susie) Peters, Little Falls; Mrs. Herbert (Isabel) Schefers, Ramey; Mrs. Bertha Mehr, Sartell; Mrs. Rita Bauer, Elrosa; six grandsons; and one great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in June 1962; brothers and sister, Ray, Arthur and Mrs. Ray (Louise) Snyder.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Randy, Gary, Dean, Rusty, Barry and Steve Brix.
