Funeral service for Robert Lee Nimmo will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pastor Janelle Brammer will officiate.
Robert died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, at the age of 71.
The son of Robert and Ruby Murphy Nimmo was born March 4, 1939, in Claremore. He was raised in Claremore, where he graduated with the class of 1957. Shortly after graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Catherine Nipper.
Jobs in the area were hard to obtain so Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force. His service took he and Catherine to Dover, Del. and to Newfoundland before returning back to Oklahoma. He then began working Bell telephone. For many years he worked for the company retiring as a manager in 1989. As his children grew he was very active in their activities. He served as Cub Scout leader, and Boy Scout leader were he earned the highest honor as a leader; the Silver Beaver. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing cards and dominos.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruby and son Bobby Nimmo Jr.
Survivors include his wife Catherine of the home; son Mike Nimmo and wife Michelle of Nowata; daughter, Brenda Lea Nimmo of Tulsa; granddaughter, Emily Joy Nimmo.
