George Grant "Jack" Powell was born in Mound Valley, Labette County, Kansas. He had lived in the Robbins area on Route 1 for 12 years before his death, moving his family there from Coffeyville.
On November 12, 1922 he married Goldie Ora Burris, who survived him at the home. He was a member of the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church where he taught a Sunday School class of boys, Keystone Lodge No. 102 and Coffeyville Chapter No. 89. A. F. & A., and the Modern Woodman lodge. He had served on the Robbins School Board.
Survivors, besides his wife are: two sons, Jack, of Great Bend, Dean and one daughter, Donna both living at the home; his father, Oliver Hosea Powell, South Coffeyville; two brothers, William of Coffeyville and Oliver W. of Wann, Okla., five sisters, Mrs. Arnold Burris of Coffeyville, Mrs. Ruth Myers of Gary, Indiana, Mrs. Ethel Myers of Waco, Texas, Mrs. Edna Howard of Hasbrouck Heights, N. J. and Mrs. Alta Gunn, Lawton, Okla. His mother had died in 1945.
George was a Sinclair Refinery worker and farmer.
