Scientist. Specialist in Environmental biology, he made extensive studies and surveys of wildlife in North America. During his tenure with the United States Forest Service (1909 to 1933) he was a tireless defend of wildlife preservation, and advanced the concept of preserving Wildlife and Wilderness areas for their own sake and for their own beauty.
