Francis John Whitt was born in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska on May 4, 1931, and departed this life on September 5, 1964 at Fremont, Nebraska.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whitt of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska and grew up in the village. He attended St. Anthony's Catholic Grade School, and graduated from the Cedar Rapids Public School.

In June of 1953 he was united in marriage to LaVerna Podamy of Schuyler, Nebr. At St. Augustine's Catholic Church. Three children were born to this union.

At the time of his death he was an employee of Ray Buchridge Plumbing & Heating Co., of Fremont, Nebr., having worked for him for a year and 3 months. Before that he worked for 8 years as a plumber for the trailer court at North Bend, Nebr.

He was one of the unfortunate victims of the Labor Day Holiday traffic toll.

He was a kind and loving husband, father, son and brother, having great patience, quiet & uncomplaining, and faithful to the religion of his choice.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, LaVerna; 2 daughters, Francine and Bittina; a son, Daniel, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whitt of Cedar Rapids, Nebr.; four brothers, Glenn J. Whitt of San Antonio, Texas, James B. Wilson of Vacaville, Calif., William P. Whitt of Aurora, Ill., Ronald U. Whitt of Oakland, Calif., four sisters, Mrs. Duane (Eileen) Purcell of Arnold, Nebr., Mrs. Ambrose (Virginia) Pfiefer, of Plattsmouth, Nebr., Mrs. Don (Catherine) Waterman of Grand Island, Nebr., Mrs. Ron (Patricia) Kremlachek of Grand Island, Nebr.; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Fremont, Nebr. At 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8th.

Rosary was said at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Latten Dugan and Chambers Funeral home Monday.

Burial was in Calvary cemetery at Fremont.

Pallbearers were his brothers, James B. Wilson, Ronald U. Whitt, William P. Whitt, and his brother's –in-law, Leonard Vidlak of Alice, Mike Klug of Richland and Leonard Podamy of Schuyler.
