Unkie was a very special man for me growing up. Though he died when I was only 8 years old, he taught me how to plant because me and him always tended to his garden in the back yard. He taught me how to weed and hoe and even fertilize the soil just right for the type of veggies and other plants we could eat in the summer time. When I see pickles beets, it is a instant reminder of my Unkie. I ate those every summer in my aunts cool kitchen. I even planted a couple with him. I LOVE pickled beets. :)
