Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29, 2008 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Felicien "Blue" Leger, age 90. He passed away Friday evening, December 26, 2008 peacefully of natural causes at Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro.
Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau.
Mr. Blue was a native and lifelong resident of Sunset. Self taught, having only attended school to the 5th grade, he farmed and trucked watermelons and sweet potatoes with his brothers, going as far as Beaumont to sell produce door to door. He was the owner of Blue's Bar & Lounge, where he ran an honest game of Bourre and where everyone learned to shoot pool. He was also the owner of Blue's Trailer Park. He never met a stranger without asking, "Who's your daddy?" so that he could figure out how he was related to you. Mr. Blue was very proud that he had traveled as far as Minot, ND to drive trucks back to LA for a trucking company. He was also a driver for Louisiana Wholesale Florist. Felicien was a lifelong member of the Lions Club in Sunset, a member of the Elks Lodge in Opelousas and a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Geneva Breaux and her husband, Paul, of Carencro and Judy Leger Troy of Lafayette; his wife, Bertha Kilchrist Boudreaux Leger of Carencro; two brothers, Russell "Red" Leger and Alex "Pionk" Leger and his wife, Narlin, all of Marksville; four grandchildren, Lonnie Breaux and his wife, Darla of Biloxi, MS, Dion Briley and her husband, Kirk, of Carencro, Karla L.
