William was a Farmer, Carpenter and Inventor. He held several Patents.
He was plowing snow with his tractor and got stuck in the snow. While pulling it out with a team of horses he had a heart attack.

William S. McCrea, a well known resident of Pattenburg, where for a number of years he followed the occupation of a carpenter, died at his home Saturday morning, aged 77 years. Mr. McCrea is survived by three sons, Harry O., Mathias and Arthur S. McCrea, of Pattenburg; 10 grandchildren, two brothers, Abram L., of Elizabeth; Anson B., of Pattenburg, and three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Alpaugh, Annandale; Mrs. Harriet S. Dalrymple, Washington, N. J., and Mrs. Elizabeth Apgar, of Lebanon, N. J.
A funeral service will be conducted at his late home Tuesday afternoon at 1:30. At 2 o'clock there will be a service in the Pattenburg Methodist Episcopal Church and interment will be made in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
