A lifelong Shelby County farmer, he was a member of the Pioneer Engineers Club, National Muzzle-Loading Rifle Association and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A son of Theodore and Catherine (Gahimer) Thoman, he was born Sept. 4, 1903, in Shelby County. He was married in 1928 to Lorena Fischer, who died in 1931. He was married Feb 1, 1936, to Anna Leppert, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Norbert S. Thoman, Indianapolis, and Loren (Bill) Thoman, Shelbyville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. John Maung officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery.
