GEORGE W. BAUGHMAN
George W. Baughman, son of Samuel and Ruth Baughman, was born near Stovertown, Ohio, Sept. 2, 1856, and passed away at his home near Mt. Vernon, Ohio, on March 5, 1941, aged 84 years, 6 months and 3 days. He was one of a family of seven children, and all the others have preceded him in death.
He was married to Lydia J. Boyd, of Ohio, and they came to Iowa to live and settled south of Russell. To them was born one son, Warren Boyd Baughman. His wife died in 1881 when Warren was nine days old.
He was again married in 1883 to Mary C. Wilson, also of Ohio, and they moved to Iowa to live and settled northeast of Russell. To them four children were born. One daughter died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. Bertha Post, of Russell; Rolla W. of Knoxville; and Charles O., of near Russell.
Later, Mr. Baughman left Iowa and returned to Ohio to live where he was again married to Luella Steimmate in 1923 and has lived near Mt. Vernon ever since. His eldest son, Warren B., of New Concord, Ohio, was killed in an auto accident, Oct. 15, 1939.
He was converted when young and joined the Lutheran church, later transferring his membership to the Bethel United Brethren church near Russell, and later to the M. E. church near Mt. Vernon.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Luella, of Mt. Vernon, and his three children, of Russell; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, of New Concord, Ohio, and a number of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday at the M. E. church of Zanesville, Ohio, conducted by Rev. Howland, of Brandon, and interment was in the Zanesville cemetery.
