Robert came to the U.S. in 1793 with his parents, John and Hannah, and his brother Thomas. They went first to South Carolina, to Dr. King's Scots-Irish Covenanter Colony, where his sister Agnes King Speer was born. About 1800 they moved to Hickory Township, PA. He lived his adult life as a farmer in Manor, Armstrong Co., PA. He had three wives and 12 children.
