Graveside services are 10 a.m. Friday, March 16, at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Anyone wishing to attend services should meet at 9:30 a.m. at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. At Edgar's request, his body will be cremated.
Edgar was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Davenport. He retired in the 1960s as a material handler from the former Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co. He married Evelyn Beasley Scherer Aug. 24, 1967. He was a World War II Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; stepchildren and spouses, Richard and Carol Scherer, Moline, Carrol and Robert Brandt, Bettendorf, and Barbara and Hafez Lorsedi, Mission Viejo, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
