John Bell was born in the Old Pendleton District of South Carolina, now Pickens County. He married Elizabeth Odell. Their known children were
i. Elizabeth. A. Bell (a daughter) was born about 1812 in Pendleton District, SC; possibly married a Staggs.
ii. George W. Bell was born about 1814 in Pendleton District, SC; married Eliza Frost 26 June 1834 in St. Clair, AL; died after 1860 perhaps in Hot Springs, AR.
iii. James Bell was born in 1817 in St. Clair, AL; possibly married Sarah Bearden 19 Aug 1835 St. Clair, AL and A. R. Ennis; died 1877 MO.
 iv. Nancy Bell (twin), born in 1817, St. Clair, AL; married Jedediah Frost, 5 Nov 1836, St. Clair, AL; died 1869, Forney, Cherokee, AL and buried Bethel Baptist Church, Forney.
v. Joseph, born about 1820; mentioned in 1877 estate of John N. Bell
vi. Eli Bell, born 10 Sep 1824, St. Clair County, AL; married Jane Mattie Carson, 13 Oct 1842, Forney, Cherokee, AL; died 4 May 1895 in Forney and buried Bethel Baptist Church, Forney.

1. This is not the same John Bell who married Amelia Gardner. That John Bell may have been buried at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Lancaster County, SC.
2. There is some confusion with his middle initial: tombstone has M, but legal papers have N.
