SIMRIL R M (Pappy) Simril age 73 of 1809 Cannon Ave died Friday August 12 1966 in a local hospital Born June 12 1893 in Noonan [sic] Ga he was the son of the late Frank and Rosebud Mc-Lane Tilden Simril.
He was a member of Cole Memorial Methodist Church where he had served as chairman of the Board of Stewards as a Trustee and had held numerous offices in the church Mr Simril was a member of Derita Masonic Lodge No 715 AF & AM York Rite Bodies and Oasis Temple of the Shrine.
He was a member of Elks Lodge BPO No 531 and member of the Methodist Men's Club He had been employed for 34 years with the National Screen Corporation and at the time of death was branch manager.
Funeral services will be at 3 pm Sunday August 14th at Cole Memorial Methodist Church officiating the Rev Paul Bruton the pastor and Dr C B Newton of Greensboro Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife Mrs Ima Carter Simril five daughters Mrs Gene S Beach of Charlotte Mrs Milton Smith of Gastonia Mrs Carson Bass of Matthews Mrs James Taft of Wallingford Conn Mrs Johnny Honeycutt of Devon Pa three sons Robert William Simril Claude M Simril - C Frank Simril all of Charlotte three sisters Mrs C F Cody of Santa Monica Calif Mrs Josephine Johnson of Jacksonville Fla Mrs Dagmar Grosz of San Leandro Calif a brother Dewitt B Tilden of New Orleans La 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren
