Amy Sue Meers Barnett, age 69, of #3212 Blacks Bluff Road, Rome, died Saturday evening, August 28th, 2010, at the residence.
A native of Decatur, Alabama, Mrs. Barnett was born on December 13th, 1940, the daughter of the late J.C. and Louise Williams Rogers. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a member of the New Harvest Church in Cleveland Tennessee. Mrs. Barnett was self-employed in the operation of Glory Cleaning Service. Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Diane Meers, by a son, Jimmy Wayne Meers, by a sister, Virginia Choate and by a brother, Terry Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, James Thomas Barnett to whom she was married on November 14th, 1978; 1 daughter, Rhonda Wilkie of N. Augusta, S.C.; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, James Lee Meers and his wife, Rebekah of Rome, Michael Anthony Meers and his wife, Wanda of Rome and Christopher Shane Meers and his wife, Kari of Rome; 12 grandchildren, Shannon Larman, Brad Meers and his wife, Rachel, of Augusta, GA., Chance Meers, Allie Meers, Madison Meers, Corey Meers, Taylor Meers, Whitney Meers, Thomas Michael Dillard, Cherina Dillard, J.T. Dillard and Mallory Meers; 3 great-grandchildren, Grayson Wayne Meers, Areannia Dillard and Jamisyn Larmon also survive as do 4 sisters, Syble Hines of Rome, Jean Howard of Summerville, GA., Dale Parham and Tina Hines both of Trion, GA.; 4 brothers, Jimmy Rogers of California, Donald Wayne Rogers of Ringgold, GA., Carl James Roger of Summerville, GA. and Raymond Rogers of Rome. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barnett will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM in the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Rev. Hank Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Sons and grandsons along with Dee Yancey will serve as active pallbearers.

Mrs. Barnett will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Tuesday) evening from 6:00 until 9:00 o'clock. At other hours the family will be at the residence.
