Floris: Word was received here by relatives of the death of Mrs. Ida Brooks of Colorado, caused by an explosion of a five gallon can of kerosine. She was pouring oil on some kindling in the cook stove preparatory to starting a fire, when the explosion came, presumably from some live coals in the stove. She was killed instantly, and the only daughter, Wilda about 15 years old, was so badly burned that she died a few days later. Mrs. Brooks was known here as Ida Kendrick and was married to Will Brooks of this locality. Many friends and relatives here are saddened by the news of the tragedy.
